The survey examined tariffs for integrated water services applied in all Italian provincial capitals in 2020, evaluating two hypothetical consumption levels for a family of 3: 192 m3 annually and 150 m3 annually. The final cost breakdown includes the following expense components: water mains, sewer fees, purification/treatment fees, fixed rates (or ex meter rental fees), standardization components and VAT at 10%. For the hypothesized 192 m3 consumed annually, the component with the greatest impact is that relating to water mains (51%), followed by purification/treatment and sewers (41%) and fixed rate fees (8%). With an annual consumption of 150 m3, the costliest component is once again water mains (46%), followed by purification and sewers (44%) and fixed rate fees (10%). In the first case, the average rate is €2.33 per m3, while in the second it is €2.19.
