The technological innovation of the IREN Group is central to its strategic decisions and formulation of the products and services offered by the Group.

 

IREN manages innovation processes through an open-innovation model and, consistent with that model, has initiated productive collaboration with universities, research centers, innovation hubs, and innovative startups in sectors of interest to the Group, identifying trends and innovative solutions at early stage, in part through direct investments and other corporate venture capital instruments.

 

IREN currently has 15 research projects co-financed by third parties for a total value of € 9.3 million, 5 of it financed. Thirty innovation projects are currently active, self-financed and developed internally, regarding proofs of concept, research projects, and technology scouting.

 

With particular reference to water service, the research and innovation projects concern topics like the quality of water provided, management of water leaks, reuse of waste water, recovery of purification sludges, safety, and risk management, aspects also included by ARERA in the macro-indicators used for monitoring the technological innovations applied to water service management.
