Nova Syria special pieces and Hawle valves for a winning synergy of quality products

Modernizing the water network often requires delicate interventions, especially if the system is almost a hundred years old. This was the case of Nova Siria, which last summer successfully completed a project between Tortona and Novi Ligure (AL): the replacement of two DN 250 gate valves, with the insertion of two new disassembly joints, a DN 400 gate valve with disassembly joint, the recovery of a DN 400 valve, and restoration of the DN 200 line drain.

“The objective was to replace the valve groups draining the principal water purification plant of the city of Novi Ligure on the older delivery line of asphalted-treated steel," explain the technical staff of Nova Syria S.r.l. of Roletto (TO). “Not a simple installation, considering the age of the sections involved, which included the last control groups dating from the twenties of a joint with valve and drain point dating from the mid-fifties”.

All the piping was nonstandard, with diameters varying as much as 2 cm from those currently in the market. It was complicated to apply stop-systems without customized work involving time and costs not compatible with the installation requirements.

Essential to the rapid execution of the project was the design and production by Nova Syria of some special pieces, such as Y pipe connections with flanged ends or with multigrip adaptable couplings: all the joints were precision-made with multiple points of connection for the eye bolts, proving simple in laying manoeuvres and essential for reducing completion time.

The combined use of special pieces made in Italy by Nova Siria with the excellent quality of the valves designed and produced by Hawle of Austria was an example of successful synergy: “With the use of a multi-coupling system,"Nova Siria commented, "we were able to insert the new main valve even with imperfect closure of the cut-off elements in the network.”
