In recent years, regarding water system maintenance, BolognaFiere has grasped the importance of detecting water system leaks quickly, especially in non-inspectionable sections, before the effects and economic consequences become evident.

T.A.E. S.r.l. of Rovereto (TN) has been selected to conduct this activity, in conjunction with the Global Service of the fairgrounds.  The company is specialized in the water sector and is already operational with Hera, the multi-utility of the water service.

The water efficiency improvements were developed in different phases:

  1. Systematic investigation of the entire network to detect hidden leaks within the fairgrounds (buildings and external areas);

  2. Installation of a system to monitor flow rate and pressure at the user connection points, which by correlating flow, pressure and time of day can automatically perform continuous diagnosis on abnormal consumption and send immediate alarm signals.

  3. Installation of an automatic monitoring system for leaks that, by means of smart sensors located at strategic points along the network, can send leakage alarms directly to our operators within 24 hours from detection of the event, also displaying the position.

  4. Upgrading of the networks and components no longer reliable, such as piping, valves, seals, timer-controlled taps, etc. This activity is being implemented, and the analysis will be extended to other areas such as the need for cathodic protection.

  5. Implementation of oversight and monitoring systems for new installations.

The activity has provided an immediate annual saving of 30% in water consumption, comparable to the consumption of 40 typical households.

The monitoring of water system parameters also helps identify performance indicators for production that will permit certification of the service provided to customers in the fairgrounds.

Guided tours of the installation will be organized during H2O.
